Away in good order, had the rail and settled in mid-division, made smooth headway to lead near 100M and fought off a strong challenge from the runner-up final stages. (Trainer questioned re improving performance.)
2着ROYAL PUMPKIN　　B Prebble　　(P2)

Towards the rear in early stages, along the 3-path and strode closer to pace entering the back straight, made his move with the winner early straight, dueled for 300M and was outfinished in late stages.
3着MAGIC TEMPLE　　N Callan　　(PC/TT)

Taken back and given a waiting ride near the tail of the field, briefly held up 450M, ran on well but couldn't make ground on the first two.
4着BUCCANEER　　H W Lai

Slow to begin, settled near the rear about 8Ls off the pace, shifted away from the fence 600M out, ran on well from off the pace, nearest finish.

Unable to slot in from draw 14 and caught at least 4-wide and without cover, moved closer to the pace from a rearward position nearing 800M, had his chance but turned one-pace final 150M.

Obtained a 2-wide position in midfield, pulled hard down the back straight and shuffled further back making the home turn, picked up steadily inside 400M and did best work late.

Dropped back towards the rear, turned 4-wide over the home turn, finished off fairly and never looked like getting to leaders.

Went forward and challenged for the lead on outside, became difficult to settle in middle stages, under pressure 500M out, fought on to 150M then weakened.

Taken across behind runners and settled at the tail of the field well off the pace, pushed very wide nearing the home turn and made no significant headway final 300M.

Broke well, restrained to a position behind midfield 7-8Ls off the good pace, saved ground on the inside but was severely checked near 450M, made limited progress thereafter.

Chased leaders along the inside then shifted to 2-wide entering back straight, under pressure 700M out to maintain position, no extra 250M.

Went forward and crossed to the fence near 1300M, pressed by a rival and became difficult to settle in middle stages, broke away from the field 600M, headed near 200M and weakened rapidly.

Made use early to obtain a forward position behind leaders, pushed to 3-wide 800M, hung in badly over the home turn, came off the bit 600M and gave ground rapidly. (To barrier trials around a bend.)

Up with the pace early then restrained to midfield passing 1400M, had to be driven along over the home turn, severely checked 450M and lost position, shuffled back to rear and eased.
