Broke well, travelled strongly in mid-division, quickened well down the inside to lead 150 M and strode clear to win impressively.

Quickly into stride, had a smooth run along the rail in a prominent position behind leader, sent to the front 300 M out and looked the most likely winner until the winner swept past 150 M from home.
3INTERCHINA STAR  M Chadwick  (TT)

Crossed to a 2-wide position and chased the pace in 2nd, kept on well in straight but found no answer to the winner's turn of foot.
4CONGRATS  W M Lai  (TT)

Settled in a position behind midfield 6Ls back, vigorously ridden 400 M out, didn't pick up instantly but kept grinding away inside 200 M to take 4th close home.
5BUTTERFIELD  D Whyte  (B)

Drifted back to a rearward position 7Ls off the pace, ran on steadily down the inside for a non-threatening 5th.
6WINNING REWARD  B Prebble  (B)

Taken back to the rear, used little in running but had 8Ls to make up passing 400 M, made some headway down the outside but never looked like figuring in the finish.

Slow to muster pace despite being ridden, 4-5Ls back in a 2-wide position in midfield, under urge near 400 M and made only little impression in the run to the line.

Never far off the pace in 4th but was one-paced when asked to produce a finish, no extra inside 100 M.

Began awkwardly and lost ground, ridden to hold a rail position towards the rear, under pressure 500 M out and couldn't quite pick up from off the pace.
10NEVER LOOK BACK  K C Leung

Taken back on jumping, switched off to the back trailing 9Ls behind the leader, had plenty to do turning in but never looked like getting involved on this Happy Valley debut.

Hard ridden forward to force the pace upfront but probably went off a little too fast, headed near 300 M and weakened rapidly.
12WHATABOB  P H Lo  (SR/TT)

Went forward but unable to shift in from a wide barrier, stuck wide without cover throughout and was beaten 500 M from home.
