Began in line, pushed up to race in 5th spot 2 to 3Ls away from lead, travelled well behind speed, eased into clear at 400 M and loomed up at 300 M, went to them easily and kept on for a strong win.

2GALLANT CHAMPION  B Prebble  (SW)

Out with rest, caught wide from an awkward draw, raced 3 wide with cover 3Ls back, did share of work to bend, didn't pick up turning, gradually battled at same pace and came again late for 2nd.

3THUMBS UP  M Du Plessis

Restrained from a wide alley, ended up well back 6 to 7Ls away on rails, ridden quietly in mid-section, saved ground on inside, made many lengths in straight and snared place despite restricted room late.

4BEAUTY EXPRESS  O Doleuze  (B1)

Began well, took a spot 3 to 4Ls back in midfield, not asked in run, in between horses same margin down on turning, kept giving once clear at 250 M and gradually closed to make frame.

5DANESIS  F Coetzee  (TT)

Away smartly, pushed forward to race outside leader, had a fair run with standard tempo, still there shading leader on turning, kept in it for a long way but just peaked, made final 200 M.

6GRAND CRU  D Whyte  (V)

Standard jump, positioned behind midfield 5Ls from leaders, travelled well throughout, improved position 3 wide on bend, made good ground down middle to be nearest on line.

7HORACE'S CHOICE  B Doyle  (H/TT)

Out with rest, pushed up to hold a spot on leaders back, had no excuse in run, still right there turning, took inside runs in straight and just kept on evenly to be not far away in finish.

8UPSIDE OF ANGER  Z Purton  (XB)

Allowed to drift back from a wide alley, raced 3 wide 7Ls away, overraced throughout and covered ground, tracked 4 wide turning, made minor headway but run ended at 200 M.

9BROM BROM  G Mosse

Taken back from outside gate, raced 8Ls off pace along inside, always back with last few, set a task turning, pursued inside runs and made gradual progress without threatening.

10GEM OF CHIU TON  W C Marwing  (TT)

Missed start and lost significant ground, shared rear 8 or so lengths away, 3 wide with cover from mid-point, still well back turning, made a little ground before emptied at 200 M. (See Racing Incidents regarding not striding out.)

10WHATABOB  W M Lai  (SR)

showed usual pace to take up running, set speed to suit 1/2L clear throughout, still held a narrow advantage leaving bend, soon overhauled and faded last 300 M.

12SLEEP WELL  E Saint-Martin

Restrained from a wide draw, raced in last few 8Ls from leaders, not used throughout, responded only moderately in straight and battled final furlong.

13EYE WITNESS  H W Lai  (XB/TT)

Began in line, assumed a position not far away 3Ls back on rails, had a soft trip throughout, couldn't pick up turning and battled away in straight.

14PLASTIC POLYMER  K C Leung

Away well enough, raced 3 wide without cover 1L away, did plenty of work on speed, struggling on turning, folded soon after straightening.
