Dropped back early from the wide gate and stuck at the rear of the field, 4 wide with cover. Came widest on the turn, and produced a massive effort to run down 2nd in the last 25m.

2THEWIZARDOFOZ  J Moreira  (B)

Began well from the inside draw, and pushed up to be handily placed in 4th, on the rails. Held the rail in the run home, and easily burnt off the majority of the field. Lead until 25m, and only beaten by a huge run.

3DASHING FELLOW  N Callan  (B)

Only fairly away, but pushed hard early to lead. Ran on solidly in the straight, but well beaten by the first two, and weakening slightly late.

4HIGH AND MIGHTY  B Prebble  (H1/XB1/TT-)

Began well, but elected to sit back early and take a position midfield, 1 off the fence. Came wider on the turn for a clear run, and finished off well, hotly chasing 3rd late.

5SICHUAN DAR  C Y Ho  (TT1)

Taken back early to sit in his familiar position at the rear of the field, on the fence. Nearly last on the turn, but ran on well late to finish in the first five.

6RACING HERO  H N Wong  (B/TT)

Began well, and pushed forward early to sit just behind the leaders, 2-3 wide, only getting cover at the 900m.Plugged away steadily in the straight.

7SMART MAN  K K Chiong  (XB/TT)

Pushed hard from the wide draw to eventually share the lead by the 900m. Well positioned on the turn, but was used up early, and only ran to the line fairly.

8AMBER DRAGON  K C Leung  (TT)

Began well and taken forward to a handy position, 1 off the fence. Stayed close to the rail in the straight, but only ran on fairly and faded late.

9WINNING LEADER  Z Purton

Well away, but only eased forward to sit worse than midfield, 3 wide. Came wider and was handily placed on the turn, but only ran on 1 paced in the straight.

10GOLDEN SLEEP  R Fourie

Began OK and took a position just forward of midfield 3-4 wide with no cover. Well positioned on the turn, but had nothing left for the run home and faded out in the straight.

11FULL TALENT  D Whyte  (CP/TT)

Angled in from the wide draw to be placed midfield, 4-5 wide with limited cover. No luck early in the straight, but didn't run on when clear. Faded and lay out slightly late.

12GOAL FOR GOLD  M L Yeung  (B/TT)

Eased out to find a position midfield, on the rails. Already weakening by the home turn. Failed to respond in the straight and dropped out quickly.

13MCQUEEN  Y T Cheng  (P1)

Dropped back early to sit at the rear of the field, 1 off the fence. Only plugged away to the line to be beaten 9L in his Hong Kong debut.

14MY LITTLE FRIEND  C Schofield  (TT)

Dropped back early and sat at the rear of the field. Over raced through the early/middle stages and came widest on the turn. Had very little left in the tank in the straight, and dropped out to be a well beaten last.
