Led from 2200M, pressed by rival 800M, shook off pursuing horses entering straight, kept finding under pressure, held off late challenge from 2nd.

Placed ahead of midfield, 4Ls behind leaders making the turn for home, fought on gamely final 400M and one of very few who managed to make ground on this yielding track, slowly getting to winner at the line.
