Began only fairly but allowed to slide forward to sit inside leader on settling. Not pressured until 300m when popped the question and pulled ahead for clear win.
2FREDERICK ENGELS  Z Purton

Taken forward shortly after start to sit behind leading pair. Revved up final 200m and finished off nicely.
3CHARLES THE GREAT  C O'Donoghue  (SR/TT)

No early speed but not far behind leading group 400m. Gained momentum gradually and doing best work at the finish.
4CALIFORNIA BOUNTY  M Chadwick  (TT)

Best out and set good pace to 400m when put under pressure. Kept on well before tiring final strides, just missing out on a place.
5EAGLE REGIMENT  O Doleuze

Jumped nicely but did not stride out and under pressure from 600m. Unbalanced 400m, laboured to the line. Substantial blood in trachea (see Racing Incidents)
6SOLAR GREAT  K C Leung

Hampered shortly after start before settling between horses in midfield. Unbalanced when in restricted room 600m. Kept on one-paced.
7VITAL FLYER  K Teetan  (B)

Began awkwardly and then unbalanced when crowded after start. Stayed on grandstand rail and kept on steadily without looking dangerous.
8CAPTAIN SWEET  W C Marwing  (CP)

Beaten for early speed and unable to switch out, racing on its own down centre track. Put under pressure from 500m but found little.
9STRAIGHT GOLD  W M Lai  (H/SB/XB)

No early speed and last on settling. Trailed field thereafter without making any ground.
