Showed early speed to take up running after beginning from middle draw. Held clear advantage most of way. Held on well under pressure to defy late challenges.
2CANNONISE  K T Yeung  (B/TT)

Began with others from the one draw. Held back to travel one back on rails within 2Ls of pace shortly afterwards. Similar position turning in. Fought on determinedly in straight but failed to peg back winner throughout. (Tactic questioned.)
3NOBLE MAN  H W Lai

Soon in rear of bunched field. Took closer order on rails shortly afterwards. Saved ground on inside turning in. Fought on steadily under pressure to be nearest at finish.
4LOLLIPOP  M Du Plessis  (B/H/TT)

Slightly crowded at start. Quickly recovered to within 3Ls of pace in forward of midfield. Similar in midfield around home bend but saved ground turning in. Failed to quicken to threaten in straight.
5ISLAND SPEED  C K Tong  (B/TT)

Remained wide in midfield far side after beginning from wide draw. Still wide rounding home bend and into straight. Fought on steadily despite hanging in.
6MY HOME TOWN  K L Chui

Raced 3-wide in one-back position most of way to straight Faded gradually. (Tactic questioned.)
7RICE FIELD  S K Sit  (TT)

Crowded slightly at start. Settled in midfield of bunched field. Lost position rounding home bend. Failed to make any impression in straight.
8TIGER PRAWN  B Doyle  (TT)

Began from high draw in first few early. Remained wide down far side in midfield. Still wide making home turn and failed to make any impression in straight.
9HIGH POINT  D Whyte

Began fairly. Soon settled in rear of field. Remained same into straight. Failed to quicken to threaten. (Questioned for poor performance.)
10NORMAN INVADER  B Prebble  (TT)

Raced very wide down far side in midfield or just worse. Hung badly making home bend and never recovered.
11SUPERIOR UNIT  C W Wong  (SW/TT)

Soon taken back from widest draw. Trailed the field to straight. Made no progress until late in closing stages. (Tactic questioned.)
12EASY  Y T Cheng  (TT)

Slightly crowded shortly after start. Not far off in one-out-one-back position to straight. Folded up quickly after straightening.
