Comments

1CALIFORNIA SPANGLE  Z Purton  (TT)

Led on the rail in back straight, ceded lead passing the 800 metres, switched off rail to tackle race leader into straight and hit the front 300 metres out, hung on well to resist runner-up's strong late challenge.

2GOLDEN SIXTY  C Y Ho

Settled in 4th some 2L back, awkwardly placed behind runner passing the 1000 metres and shuffled 3L back to 5th coming onto home bend, came under pressure to challenge inside the 350 metres and ran on gamely, unable to peg back the winner.

3LAWS OF INDICES  J McDonald  (B2/XB/TT)

Pressed forward from the widest gate settling 3-wide without cover in 1L 3rd and then 2nd from 1100 metres, became 2-wide in 2L 3rd rounding home bend and similar into straight, fought on for 3rd but never threatening.

4BEAUTY JOY  H Bowman  (H/TT)

Wide in 5th early, rushed up from the 900 metres to lead off the rail 800 metres out, led until headed 300 metres out and weakened under pressure.

5MORE THAN THIS  K C Leung  (CP)

Soon dropped towards rear in 7th despite niggling along, given reminders passing 1000 metres and 600 metres, ran past well-beaten horses in straight.

6DANON SCORPION  W Buick

Jumped awkwardly losing ground, never seen with a chance despite running past well-beaten horses early in home straight.

7EXCELLENT PROPOSAL  A Hamelin  (B)

Broke well but gradually taken back well behind, trailed the field most of the way to the line despite coming under pressure on home bend and early in straight.

8WAIKUKU  S De Sousa

Broke well from a wide gate settling 1L back in 2nd, shifted behind race leader for cover becoming 3L 4th on home bend, found no extra inside final 300 metres.

9SCHNELL MEISTER  C Lemaire

Slightly slow out, soon recovered to 6th just over 3L back on the rail, gained slightly closer briefly coming onto home bend and soon faded.
