Began fast before racing third on the rail behind two leaders who held significant advantage early. Continued third, a length behind leading pair at 400m, dashed to lead at 150m & continued on to win softly.

2EUROMISSILE  M L Yeung  (B/H/XB)

Obtained position in midfield on rail after start. Moved closer to the lead approaching the corner, shifted outwards passing 200m mark when close behind before closing off to second in final 75m.

3HERCULES  K Teetan  (XB/B2/TT)

Got back after first bend to race worse than midfield away from rail. Moved to midfield after the 600m bend, shifted very wide on straightening before making up significant late ground down the outside to move to third late.

4JOYFUL GENIUS  L Ferraris  (CP)

Steadied at start, raced second last away from rail. Shifted back towards the rail entering last section when 6L behind before making significant late ground along the rail to be under 2L behind in 4th.

5HAPPY TANGO  J Moreira  (B)

Shared lead after first bend before steadying & racing at leader's flanks from 850m when leading pair went well clear of remainder. Took lead early in straight, joined by winner 125m, fought on ok late stages. See report.

6TAKE WHAT YOU NEED  L Hewitson  (SR/TT)

Raced 4th away from the rail early before losing position passing the 800m mark & racing midfield between runners thereafter. Entered last section 4L from the lead, finished off steadily to hold midfield finish.

7HAPPY GATHERING  M Chadwick  (B)

Raced in midfield along rail early before moving away from rail passing 650m when improving position. Straightened under 3L from the lead, finished off only moderately in last furlong & was beaten just over 3L in midfield.

8HARRIER JET  K C Leung  (B)

Raced in midfield away from rail early before removing three wide without cover from the 750m. Was ridden along before straightening, made no headway in the straight & was beaten over 4L.

9ENCORE  C Y Ho  (TT)

Shifted behind runners after start & raced at tail. Continued last when 9.5L from the lead entering the final section before shifting to be the widest runner in the straight & making late ground to halve deficit on the line.

10COLONEL  Z Purton

Pushed forward to lead soon after start. Was challenged in the lead & raced keenly until drawing a half-length clear at the 900m. Was joined & headed on straightening before weakening out quickly in final 100m (see report).

11QUORUM  R Maia  (B/TT)

Didn't begin fast, steadied away from heels after start & raced rearward . Was steadied away from heels & lost ground noticeably passing the 550m mark before failing to challenge in straight. Second last.

12AHEAD A HEAD  D Moor  (B)

Crowded at start before shifting to rail & racing worse than midfield. Became unbalanced & lost ground at the 600m bend & was relegated to third last as a consequence. Weakened further in straight to be long last.
