Comments

1TAVERNER  Z Purton  (B/TT)

From a wide draw raced without cover for 900M then crossed to a 2-wide position ahead of midfield, responded well inside 400M and kept grinding away, led near 50M and just got the better of the 2nd in a head-bobbing finish.

2FIONN'S DRAGON  H W Lai  (TT)

Began awkwardly, positioned midfield off the fence, angled out to clear inside 550M, came with a late surge final 200M and collared winner close home only to lose out in a photo finish.

3WINNING EDGE  W C Marwing  (B/H)

Given a waiting ride near the rear, turned 3-wide nearing 700M, had plenty to do turning in, ran on strongly down the outside beaten by a diminishing neck.

4JUST FANTASTIC  D Whyte  (H)

In touch with the runaway leader, showed good acceleration to hit the lead 200M out, looked a winner but was outpaced by the top 3 over the late stages. Narrowly beaten.

5LIFE OF BEAUTY  M Chadwick  (B/TT)

Chased leaders early then held up in midpack of the main group, 6Ls behind runaway leader over the turn, picked up well inside 400M, held up near 200M then checked again near the finishing line. Would have been closer.

6SHAHJEE  C K Tong

Ordinary jump but soon moved to the lead, restrained nearing the turn and sat 4Ls behind breakaway leader, quickened well early straight but turned one-pace final 150M.

7KING OF HEARTS  P Strydom  (P/XB/H)

3-wide with leaders down the back straight, raced keenly and pulled himself to the front 900M, built up a 4Ls lead over the turn, couldn’t sustain effort and was headed 200M, weakened gradually. (Jockey questioned.)

8SPINNAKER  G Cheyne  (TT)

Raced 3-wide towards the rear, no cover from 900M and came widest over the turn, responded well early straight but flattened out inside 200M.

9TAKNAM  M W Leung

Slow to begin, urged along to stay in touch with the field, last into straight and switched to widest to challenge, stayed on well.

10REAL SUPREME  O Doleuze  (V/TT)

Set early pace, relinquished the lead before the turn and was 4Ls behind breakaway leader turning home, quickened well up the rail but ran into traffic near 250M and didn’t have a clear crack to the line.

11VITAL SMART  K C Leung  (SW)

Began awkwardly and raced keenly towards the rear, kept on one paced passing beaten runners only.

12LUCKY PRINCE  M Guyon  (TT-)

Raced a shade keen along the rail behind midfield, shaken up inside 500M and made a short lived effort, no extra inside 200M.

13HAPPY AMBASSADOR  W M Lai

Raced in midfield along the 2-path in early stages, turned 3-wide without cover passing halfway, outpaced nearing 300M, weakened and eased late stages.

14LAMBRO  M Du Plessis  (B/TT)

Restrained to a rearward position off the fence, 8-9Ls behind leader going into straight didn’t pick up.
