Settled along the fence in 5th but a long way back from the runaway leaders, squeezed badly near 250 M but recovered well and showed battling attitudes to cut down his rivals close home.
2VENI VEDI VICI  M Du Plessis  (PC/TT)

Travelled in 4th and always going well, moved closer on the runaway leaders passing 500 M, ran on well in straight, hit the front inside 200 M but was outran close home. Beaten narrowly.
3WINNING REWARD  H W Lai  (B)

Patiently ridden in the rear despite the furious early pace, trailed over 10Ls behind leader in middle stages, made his challenge widest and really powered home inside the final 200 M. Just failed.
4IRON FIST  K T Yeung  (TT)

Went forward from the beginning, raced in 3rd 6-7Ls behind the breakaway leaders, under urged from 400 M and looked threatening early in straight, briefly hit front inside 300 M but was unable to sustain effort close home.
5WILLING STORM  D Beadman  (H)

Restrained to a 2-side position in mid-division, a long way off the fast pace in middle stages but moved closer making the home turn, stayed on ok but lacked the turn of foot he displayed when winning last time.
6GREAT ACHIEVEMENT  B Prebble  (TT)

Awkwardly away and was soon taken across to the fence, sat in midfield 6Ls away from the fast face going into final 400 M, ran on evenly down the inside despite hang in near 200 M.

Drifted back to a position towards the rear, 3-wide making the home turn, ran on fairly without posing serious threat.

Taken back on jumping, travelled in 2nd last about 10Ls away from the strong early pace, waited with until 350 M before making a run down the inside, but effort appeared to have flattened inside 100 M.
9MY HOME TOWN  O Doleuze

Unable to shift in and was caught in a 3-wide without cover position behind midfield, gradually crept closer down the back straight, drifted in under pressure in straight and never picked up, eased down close home.
10DIAMOND BRILLIANCE  M L Yeung  (B-/TT)

Was taken on for the lead from 1400 M and ended up setting an unsustainably strong gallop, noticeably weakened passing 400 M and was swamped shortly on straightening. (Jockey and Trainer questioned.)
11SILVER SUN  M Chadwick

Attacked the lead, went a furious pace up front and opened up a 7Ls gap in middle stages, got tired passing 400 M as early hard run took toll, dropped off rapidly in home straight. (Jockey and Trainer questioned.)
