Comments

1KING CREOLE  D Whyte  (TT)

Well enough away, guided to a handy position just behind leading pack, had the race run to suit, picked them up near 200 M and powered clear for a convincing success.

2TELECOM EMPEROR  M W Leung  (B/TT)

Taken back from the wide barrier, raced detached in the rear trailing leader 7 to 8Ls, had to be shaken up on turning, switched out and produced a good late run down the outside of straight.

3SILVER WRAITH  M L Yeung  (B)

Slowly into stride, pressed on early to keep up with the pace, raced in a 3-wide midfield position, steadied near 450 M, made even progress inside 300 M but never looked like catching the winner. (Retired subsequently.)

4ACTIVE VALOUR  B Prebble  (B)

Jumped well, drifted back and taken to a rearward position 2 off the fence, slightly hampered making home turn, ran on steadily down the home straight but didn't pose a serious threat.

5PERFECT ATHLETE  C W Wong

Quickly into stride, always in the front rank but was pressed by runner on both sides, briefly hit front inside 250 M but was soon collared by the eventual winner, no extra inside 150 M and was visibly weakened over the final stages

6ACTUARIAL TALENT  Y T Cheng  (V1)

Even break, taken to rail and settled in mid-division closely enough to the pace, checked severely and lost 2Ls near 500 M, recovered and made some headway down the inside on straightening.

7PLEASURE PLEASURE  W M Lai  (B/TT)

Away in line, settled in a rearward position 5 to 6Ls behind leader, checked near 500 M, had plenty to do entering home straight, took time to gather speed and did his better work towards the finish.

8OPTIC KING  C K Tong  (SR/SW/TT)

Moderate start, had to be rushed up to hold a prominent position early, checked and shuffled back near 600 M, kept on only fairly in the straight before momentarily checked inside 100.

9SUPER RED  K L Chui  (SW/XB/TT)

Fast out from the wide barrier, ridden to a forward position, unable to cross and was forced wide without cover, gradually outpaced by the leaders rounding the home turn, kept on very once-paced towards the finish.

10BLUE SAINT  H W Lai  (B)

Drawn low, rolled forward along the rail to take up the early running, was taken on for the lead by runners on his outside, unable to keep up effort on straightening, soon headed and faded inside 200 M.

11HAPPY SUNDAY  G Mosse  (V/TT)

Standard break, assumed a midfield position close enough to the leaders, caught wide making the home turn, under pressure inside 400 M, found little when asked and hung in under pressure. No impression.

12FIRST DEGREE  B Doyle  (B/TT-)

Ordinary jump, attacked the lead early, 3-wide turning home, dropped out of contention early in straight. (Irregular Heart Rhythm.)
