Settled in midfield in 7th about 4L off the pace, awkwardly placed behind runner rounding home bend, obtained clear passage over 200 metres out and quickened well to snatch victory near the line.

2HEARTY WISH  L Hewitson  (SR/TT)

Improved quickly from moderate start to prominent 2nd about 1L back, came to challenge rounding home bend and hit the front narrowly upon straightening, worn down by fast-finishing winner close to home.

3ISLAND SURPRISE  Z Purton  (B/TT)

Ridden forward from a wide gate to be up with the pace, obtained rails run passing the 850 metres before settling just behind race leader, held every chance in home straight but unable to draw level throughout.

Driven forward from the widest gate to vie for lead, obtained rails run in front passing the 800 metres, led until narrowly headed upon straightening, kept on under pressure but lost placing late.

Ridden along 3-wide among early leaders, crossed by faster runners and clipped heels inside the 1000 metres drifting back to 3L 6th, remained wide without cover into straight, ran on steadily to be nearest at finish.

Settled well behind from a wide gate, commenced move rounding home bend, ran on under pressure in straight.

Moderate start, travelled strongly in 5th on the rail just over 2L off the pace, saved ground turning for home, kept on steadily under pressure without quickening.

Crowded at start losing ground, soon recovered to 9th towards the rear, commenced move 3 wide rounding home bend going wider into straight, ran on steadily under pressure.

Gradually settled just worse than midfield 8th on the rail, saved ground turning for home, unable to quicken under pressure.
