Comments

1CHARMING STEED  B Shinn  (B-/TT)

Pushed forward & raced outside the leader. Assumed narrow lead mid-straight & dug deep in late stages to narrowly hold off challenger in final stages to win.

2SHINING FORTUNE  L Currie  (H)

Raced on leaders back. Bumped the running rail & became unbalanced passing the 900m. Stayed close to the rail in straight, closed strongly in final stages but fell a short head behind on line.

3SEE U AGAIN  Z Purton  (H1)

Crowded & steadied between runners before being checked & losing ground at the first bend. Rebalanced & continued in midfield away from rail, eased wider on straightening before closing strongly to third, beaten under 1L.

4HAPPY SHARING  M Chadwick  (TT)

Clipped heels & stumbled at first bend before getting nice run 1,1 throughout. Straightened only a length behind and pretty much maintained that deficit all the way to line when holding 4th place.

5MELBOURNE HALL  A Badel  (H/XB)

Steadied after start & raced second last early before improving between runners to be just worse than midfield from 900m. Eased into clear running after straightening before making strong late ground to be only 1.5L behind.

6NEXTMODEL  H Bentley  (TT)

Showed early speed to lead. Joined & headed by winner at the 175m before battling on fairly to only be beaten 2L into midfield.

7HAPPY TRIO  L Hewitson  (SR)

Raced wide early, taken even wider around first bend before ultimately settling three deep without cover in midfield. Continued wide around bend before finishing off ok down the outside to only be beaten 3L into midfield.

8GOOD NEWS  K C Leung  (V/TT)

Slow 1L at start, raced rearward before being crowded & losing momentum near the 850m. Continued near the tail on straightening before passing one or two tiring rivals without providing a genuine threat. (See report).

9CASA KINGDOM  K Teetan  (CP)

Shifted across to the rail after the start & raced in midfield throughout. Was 4L behind on straightening but could make no headway & was passed by a few rivals to finish a non-threatening 9th. (Irregular heart rhythm).

10MASTER OF LUCK  C Y Ho  (H/TT)

Raced in midfield between runners before being badly checked at the first corner & losing ground. Raced three wide at the back thereafter before becoming keen & checking off heels at 700m. Unable to get into race thereafter.

11STEEL WIN  C Wong

Raced wide in midfield early before being hampered & taken very wide approaching the 900m before steadying back to second last. Relegated to last near 600m, moved 4 wide 400m, was the widest in straight but failed to run on.

12FORTUNE PRESIDENT  H T Mo  (B)

Began only fairly & had no early speed & raced near the tail throughout. Failed to improve at any stage & was last.
