Broke well from a wide gate, worked around first bend to take up running from the 1000 metres, maintaining 1L advantage to straight, just staved off runners-up's late challenge closing stages.

Settled behind midfield, commenced move out wide leaving the Rock gaining to within 3L of lead approaching home turn, sustained progress in straight but just failed to peg back the winner.
